About

Hi there! I'm the primary person behind the recipes on Travelling Treats and I love to share my passion for healthy cooking and baking with others. My journey started in 2011 after watching the documentary Forks Over Knives (a must-watch for those of you who haven't already watched it). With my family, I eventually came to cut out wheat and gluten, dairy products, meat, eggs, refined sugars, and of course all trans fats, MSG, hydrogenated oils, and preservatives. It's been quite a ride, and I've changed things up in my diet numerous times to try and find the right "fit." New information that I've discovered over the years has led me to consider new and updated ways of eating more healthfully, and the path has been long. I've always loved sweet treats and dinner time is sacred to me (the fun factor of the food is everything), so I started trying to figure out new and innovative ways to make the foods I loved without the bad stuff.
And in 2015, Travelling Treats was born!
I want this site to be a place that new healthy eaters (and veteran foodies too) can come to find real, honest information about food and recipes. It can be complicated and a bit scary to experiment with new foods, and I hope that Travelling Treats can minimize some of the stress that goes along with changing one's diet. Food is a necessity, but it's also something that we get to enjoy. So take a look around and have fun! ๐ ๐
