Simple Stir Fried Cabbage

Yield: 4

  • 1/2 head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into small chunks
  • 1 poblano pepper, cut into small chunks
  • 1 tbsp unrefined cooking oil (olive oil, coconut oil, or another cold-pressed oil like avocado oil)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried, ground garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika powder
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder + water

  1. Heat the oil on medium heat in a medium to large size saucepan or wok.
  2. Once the oil is heated, swirl it around and then gently add the cabbage and peppers.
  3. Sprinkle in the spices and soy sauce and mix as well as possible. Cook for about 10 minutes, then add 1/4 cup of fresh water and cover the pot.
  4. Let the veggies simmer for another 10 minutes, then stir and let them cook again for another 10 minutes (add a bit more water if needed, the cabbage should NOT stick to the pan at any time).
  5. When the cabbage appears well cooked (translucent), add in the arrowroot powder mixed with water and stir well to coat the veggies. The sauce should be slightly sticky.
  6. Serve warm with a side of rice.
