Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines – Grocery Stores and Markets

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a place with a thriving Caribbean culture and a delicious, unique culinary scene. I can confidently say that I liked Kingstown, the capital of SVG, even despite the fact that it’s one of the largest cities on the island. A firmly Christian nation, it’s important to note that almost everything, including grocery stores and convenience stops, close on Sundays all day long. The streets are almost deserted on Sunday and the islands are extremely peaceful. In other words, make sure you get stocked before Sunday comes or you’ll end up with an interesting food situation!

The grocery stores in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are fairly well-stocked with all the necessities. I was even able to find chocolate, whole wheat bread, fresh peanuts, and non-dairy milk, among other awesome health food type items. Don’t let the country’s lesser known status and small size fool you; the food situation here is quite livable, even for a major foodie!

Here are some pictures of the grocery stores and markets in St. Vincent to give you an idea of what’s available:
